  Murray Mollard
 
 

Murray Mollard is the Executive Director of the B.C. Civil Liberties Association holding this position since 2001 having previously served as the Policy Director since 1994. He has been a member of the Law Society of B.C. since 1992. He graduated with a LL.B. from McGill University’s Faculty of Law in 1990 and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of B.C.’s Faculty of Commerce in 1986.

Prior to his work with the BCCLA, Mr. Mollard worked in the areas of labour and environmental law. He also worked with the Honourable Justice Wallace T. Oppal on the Commission of Inquiry into Policing in B.C. 1993 and 1994 where he was responsible for researching private security regulation. Mr. Mollard also assisted Professor Bill Black of UBC’s Faculty of Law with the Human Rights Review in 1994.

He is the author of The Citizenship Handbook - A Guide to Democratic Rights and Responsibilities for New Canadians. Mr. Mollard is the author of various BCCLA positions, submissions and articles on matters including national security, privacy and access-to-information, free speech, judicial appointments and democracy. He is a regular speaker on matters relating to police accountability.
