After obtaining a PhD, Ed
Levy taught philosophy of science at the University of British Columbia from
1967-1988. In 1988 Ed joined QLT Inc., a biotechnology company that developed
a treatment, now used worldwide, for age-related macular degeneration, the main
cause of vision loss among the elderly.
At the end of 2002 Ed retired
from QLT and became an adjunct professor at the W. Maurice Young Centre for Applied
Ethics at UBC. Ed is a mentor with Inno-Center Alberta and he is a member of the
boards of several technology companies and Genome B.C. Ethics Advisory Committee,
as well as of some non-profits, including BCCLA and the PIVOT Foundation. |
