Fundraising Events & Team Challenges
The B.C. Civil Liberties Association welcomes help from the community to fundraise for its civil liberties and human rights programs. We would be pleased to support your fundraising event by providing a speaker, BCCLA brochures and information, donation forms or other available materials.
Fill out the Third Party Event Registration Form and start planning your event today. Here’s a list of various events to help inspire your fundraising ideas:
Featured Fundraiser
Marathon participants can fundraise on behalf of the BCCLA by creating a personal online CanadaHelps Giving Page &/or by using forms available from each event site, such as the Vancouver Marathon!
Global Gourmet
As a great option for celebrating diversity during the holiday season, you can offer a luncheon or bake sale in which people bring in dishes from different cultures and coworkers buy a ticket for the potluck meal.
Sports Competition
Sporting events are very popular and easy to organize, such as skipping rope, beach volleyball, bowling, billiards, hockey, etc. Competitions can be planned around individual or team challenges in the most imaginative ways possible. Pledges are based on the amount of the time the participant does the activity or can be a flat rate donation.
Community Barbeque
A barbeque is always popular and due to the fact that running a barbeque takes a team effort, it is a great opportunity for a community group to get to know one another, help raise money and have fun! You will need to source a barbeque, food items, and lots of volunteers to help.
Office/School Challenge
Employees/students compete in a variety of modified sporting events (desk chair racing, cube ultimate, waste bin basketball, paper airplane flying, etc.). Competitions can be done by individuals or teams. Funds are raised through entry fees &/or pledges. This also works well with executive golf putting kits set up in a hallway. Even a board game challenge can be fun for less active participants. Prizes could be incentives such as the boss or principal’s parking space for a day.
Golf Tournament
The popularity of golf has made it a great avenue to gather people together and raise money for the BCCLA. Golf tournaments are a lot of fun but early planning and a strong network of potential paying foursomes are keys to the success of this tournament. This is also a way to make a regular corporate event into a cause-related marketing success!
Corporate Champions
Encourage corporate social responsibility by holding a commission/profits/tips donation day, starting a monthly donation program or offering a Corporate Matching Gift Program. If your workplace conducts a United Way campaign, your regular gift can do twice as much if you designate it to the BC Civil Liberties Association and include our registered charity number: 888466844RR0001.
Party with a Purpose
Be part of a winning recipe to help BCCLA while hosting a gathering with friends and family. Ask your guests to donate the amount they would spend on a nice night out on your own online CanadaHelps Giving Page. As host, you can hold any type of party to have fun and raise funds – wine tasting, birthday, housewarming, pool party, etc.
Make Change Month
Participants collect their household spare change for a month or donate the change from buying their daily coffee. A prize can be given to the department or team that raises the most money. Change is then rolled and converted to bills or a cheque at the bank, then donated to BCCLA. This can also be done as a bottle drive, with participants collecting returnable containers and cashing them in at a recycling depot.
Dress Down Day
Participants make a donation in return for the privilege of dressing casually for the day. Organizers can either have a set amount that must be paid or ask for a minimum donation and then provide a sticker or ribbon indicating the paid participants.
