    Advocacy groups call on BC Representative for Children and Youth to review centralization of girls’ imprisonment

    BC’s child and youth advocate report on child sex testing
    The BCCLA welcomes the primary recommendations resulting from the independent investigation conducted by the provincial advocate for children and youth, Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond, into the problematic sexual testing of youth in the criminal justice system. The provincial advocate’s report was released today.

    BCCLA Calls for Reinstating Prison Parenting Program The BCCLA is calling on the provincial government to reinstate the mother-child program at the Alouette Correctional Centre for Women. The BCCLA has released a position paper on child apprehensions in BC correctional facilities and called on the Solicitor General and Minister for Children and Family Development to bring the program back.
